Where to Stay and Eat in New Orleans 2022

Last week a few girlfriends and I met up in New Orleans for a Galentine’s Getaway. It was a fabulous place to get away, enjoy great friendship, delicious food and the culture New Orleans offers.

We stayed at The Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon Street, located on the edge of the French Quarter. Customer service was above and beyond what we expected! From the valet, to the bell hop, front desk, waiters and everyone else…they made our getaway so pleasant!

The Royal Sonesta has two restaurants on site and a Jazz Playhouse Bar. The food at each one was amazing!

We started our adventure with beignets across the street from the hotel at Cafe Beignet!

The 1st night we ate at Desire Oyster Bar Restaurant. We shared Crawfish Etouffee Fries and I ordered the blackened catfish on brioche which was delicious, but the star of the show was definitely the Louisiana Crab Cakes! Desire Oyster Bar is the perfect setting to enjoy a great meal in the center of all the action of the French Quarter.

The Jazz Playhouse at The Royal Sonesta was so fun. We enjoyed the music, food and fun drinks.

Each morning we enjoyed a pastries, muffins, parfaits and coffee from PJ’s Coffee downstairs in the lobby of Royal Sonesta.

One night we had drinks and shared appetizers at the bar in Restaurant R’evolution at the Royal Sonesta and had the best waiter named Texas! We enjoyed champagne, a cheese board and crawfish beignets.

The vote for best food on the trip went to Francois Grill at Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge. Everyone loved what they ordered and we had the best customer service! We ordered onion rings as an appetizer and savored every bite. I had the Bourbon Street Grilled Shrimp (ah-mazing!!). If you are ever in the area, make it a priority to dine at Francois Grill at Perkins Rowe.

There were many other places we visited while on our getaway, but these are the stand outs I wanted to share with you.
