Have you ever “gotten away” right in the same area that you live? I did this a few weeks ago with some girlfriends of mine in Saint Francisville, Louisiana. We had the best time together! I’d love to share some of our favorite places with you in case you ever decide to get away to Saint Francisville, you’ll have some good recommendations!
We spent the night at Hemingbough B and B in their guest house. We were greeted with champagne followed by a tour of our rooms. Hemingbough is absolutely exquisite! The grounds are breathtaking and the service is over and above any expectation.
Our first stop was lunch at The Magnolia Cafe (locals call it The Mag). The Mag is a family owned and operated restaurant that has been in the family for five generations! All of their produce is fresh and grown locally. I’ve never ordered anything I did not like…but my favorite is the Bluesy Chicken Salad! The Mag also has B and B cabins, there on site that are adorable. Because it’s located downtown, this would be a great place to stay as it is in walking distance to so much.
Our next stop was The Vintage Hive which is an antique/farmhouse/decor shop. I wanted one of everything in there! It’s definitely a must to stop in when you go to St. Francisville.
We ate dinner that evening at The Francis Bar & Table. We decided to order one of every appetizer and share them as our meal (it was more than enough!) The food was amazing! I think our favorite had to be the duck egg rolls.
After dinner we went back to Hemingbough to take in the sunset, and it was breathtaking! There’s a feeling of peace and calm on the grounds that is indescribable.
Later that evening we went on a fascinating tour of The Myrtles Plantation (which is known to be haunted!). We were a little spooked, but made it out just fine! Then, we had dessert and coffee at Restaurant 1719 at The Myrtles. I had Bread Pudding with a side of Bananas Foster Ice Cream. That may be the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth!!
After dessert, we went back to Hemingbough for late night girl talk and lots of laughter!
Sunday we had the most amazing brunch at The St. Francisville Inn! The owners, Jim and Brandon were so kind and gave us a tour with the history behind how the Inn came to be. They also gave us a tour of their living quarters upstairs that has been remodeled similar to a New York style loft. (That was my favorite part!)
All in all it was a fabulous getaway! If you have any questions about our weekend please don’t hesitate ask! Thanks for spending time with me today! Have a great week!
Blessings~Michelle
