Hello! If you are a curvy girl (bigger hips and thighs), this is for you. Today I thought it would be fun to talk about fashion tips we can do to camouflage the widest area and appear longer and leaner.
Tip #1 Focus on your upper body pulling eyes up and away from your hips and thighs. An example of this would be wearing a print on top, pulling your hair up (elongating your neck) or accessorize with statement pieces around your neck and face. Wearing a v-neck style top or an off the shoulder top also pulls the eyes up.
Tip #2 Wear darker colors on the bottom. Stay away from prints and light colors. Dark jeans will look more slimming and elongating than faded jeans. Black pants, skirt, or jumpsuit can be very slimming.
Tip #3 Boot cut and flare leg pants are great to bring balance to the hips (much better than skinny jeans).
Tip #4 Wear a heal or pointed toe shoe. A heel will give you the extra height creating a longer look. You can achieve this look with a wedge, platform or block style shoe. The pointed toe shoe creates the illusion of a longer leg.
Tip #5 Wear a monochromatic look. Wearing the same color on top and on bottom creates a leaner look (even all white). When doing this, try to keep your shoe the same color you are wearing or a nude/neutral color.
Tip #6 When wearing shorts, make sure the stop at a smaller part of your leg. In other words, if you have larger thighs, do not wear a short that stops at the widest part of your leg. Wear them a little longer to draw the eye to a slimmer part of your leg.
Tip #7 Wear a long layering piece such as a kimono or long cardigan. This will create a longer look that skims the body in a flattering way.
