Every Monday night my husband and I serve in a ministry called Celebrate Recovery. It is an outreach for anyone challenged with a hurt, habit or hang up (which could be any of us!). We help people with chemical addiction, gambling, over eating, co-dependency, anxiety, divorce, abuse…and the list goes on and on. It is a 12 step bible based program. There are similarities to AA, but we cover more than chemical addiction and each step is backed with scripture. It is an incredible ministry to be a part of! We have had the opportunity to see so many people turn their lives around! I am teach lessons (on a rotation) and co-lead the Newcomers class. My husband is a parking lot greeter. I have always thought he has one of the more important jobs because it is hard for many to get out of their car the first time they come. Seeing a welcoming, friendly person right away is huge. Celebrate Recovery meets every Monday night of the year. If Christmas falls on Monday, we are there…because recovery never takes a break. So why do we like to serve in this ministry? My husband and I strongly believe in the power of God at work in the lives of those that Him. We are different because God is at work in our lives. If we are somehow able to help others by pointing them to Christ, we’ll do it as much as we can. So that’s where you will find us each Monday night! What about you?
