There is a lot of debate out there about Retin A. Many think it is too harsh and does damage to your skin. My experience has been that if you ease into it correctly, you can have success. I did this and truly think this is what has helped cell turn over, producing more collagen, reducing age spots and fine lines.

The active ingredient is Tretinoin. It was first introduced as a prescription to treat acne. Then later, there was a realization that it could produce results like I listed above, as an anti aging product.

The difference between Retin A and Retinol is strength. Retin A is a synthetic form of vitamin A. Unlike Rentinol, Retin A is a prescription-only medication. Retin A works faster and is more powerful than Retinol products.

Where can you buy prescription strength Retin A? You can ask your Dr. to write a prescription. This costs around $100 and it is not covered by most insurance companies. If you are traveling or have a friend traveling to Mexico you can buy it in a local pharmacy for around $10. (They sell prescription strength over the counter) I have asked friends to buy it for me when they travel and usually buy 3 tubes. Another option is ordering online from Reliable RX Pharmacy. It takes several weeks to arrive, but I have never had any problems with them. I have used all three methods and can tell you I see no difference in the product at all.

The way I eased into using Retin A was very slow. The first month, I used a pea size once a week. The second month, I used it twice a week. The third month I used it three days a week. The fourth month I used it every other day. By month five, I used it every day. There have been times when I feel it is too drying and I will back off a bit, and slowly get back to every day.

Retin A is the first product I apply at night (after cleansing). I still use a pea size and lightly rub it in to my face, declotte’ and back of hands. I avoid the area around my lips and nostrils, because it tends to get dry and flaky if I put it there. Retin A does travel a bit, so be cautious knowing it will spread a little on it’s own.

I feel like this is the longest explanation ever… sorry. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below.

Blessings~Michelle
