1 Year Blogaversary

So it’s officially one year ago that I started Poised Petite. I intentionally started on my birthday so I would have an easy way to remember my starting point. My favorite thing hands down, is the new friendships I’ve made through blogging. Many new friends are right here in Baton Rouge and we get together often. Other new friends are only through social media platforms. It’s fun how you can really get to know people through Instagram or Facebook! I’ve learned a few key things this last year that I thought would be fun to share with you.

Do it scared!! What I mean by that is if there is something you have been wanting to do, but have been scared…move out of your comfort zone and do it! (Even if you have to do it scared!) I was so afraid that I wouldn’t be any good, or that no one would want to follow me, etc. I’m glad I pushed through and did it shaking in my shoes:)

Many people will not understand it, and that’s ok! Some people just don’t “get it.” They do not understand marketing, public relations, blogging, or anything in that world. I used to feel so insecure about what people would think. I finally came to a place of being ok with some people never understanding.

You do you. Comparison is awful. We all fall into it from time to time. When I feel that choking feeling coming on, I step back, take a break, realign my thoughts, remember my purpose and just be the best version of me I can be. It’s so easy for me to compare my Instagram feed to my blogger friends that are in their 30’s or 40’s. But I’m in my 50’s and I have a different voice, a different perspective and if I stay in my lane, being myself, I’m much happier and have a lot less anxiety.

Consistency is key. That’s with anything you do…exercise, eating right, bible study, prayer… We see results from consistency. If you are wanting to try something new, be consistent.
